Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Lead the design & build of Gaylord Archival's proprietary, conservation-grade exhibit cases pedestals for the museum market.- Collaborates with design engineer(s), project engineer(s) and sales to establish best practices for building conservation-grade exhibit case pedestals that support an acrylic or glass vitrine.
- Best practices are established based on: safety for internal and external customers, productivity and customer desires to aesthetic, functionality and price.
- Trains operators on CNC router, saw and paint booth. Operates as needed.
- Provides technical consultation to customers during the sales process. Balance customer design ideas with budget and delivery expectations to determine optimal solutions. Utilize renderings and detailed drawings to communicate ideas and document requirements.
- Estimates costs and delivers a timely quote to the sales team with gross margins in line with company expectations.
- If bid is awarded, provides a bill of materials and shop drawings to operations.
- Represents Gaylord for any customer change requests. Works with Operations/Purchasing/Sales team to determine feasibility, timing and pricing variance (if applicable)
- Quality Control. Provides voice of customer to ensure our finished goods are meeting customer expections.
- Consults with Operations on best practices and equipment needs for optimum productivity and customer value.
- Manages installation and after sale open items.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years experience in cabinet assembly or custom millwork fabrication with at least 2 years in a lead or project manager role.
- Trade certificate in Carpentry, Cabinetmaking, or shop related trade preferred.

- Listening for understanding and accuracy. it is critical to understand our customers' needs and be able to translate that to a finished product.
- Communication and Collaboration. Success is dependent on bringing many teams together for a common goal. Lead Cabinet Maker/Project Engineer will work with EVERY department within Gaylord and multiple supplier partners.
- Technical knowledge of exhibit fabrication.
- Ability to prepare and interpret drawings.
- Proficient in MS Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint)
