Beva® 2.5 mil 371 Film (Roll)

Beva® 2.5 mil 371 Film (Roll) is ideal for creating transparent linings on paintings. Beva 371 Film is made of pure Beva 371 Solution. It comes sandwiched between one sheet of 1.5 mil silicone-coated Mylar release film and one sheet of 4 mil silicone-coated release paper, both completely transparent and dimensionally stable. Beva 371 is not a liquid, so it can be applied to small, clearly defined areas without fear of spreading. This is particularly useful in the consolidation of collages and sensitive materials. Just cut the film into your desired shape and place where needed. Insert into loose areas. While adhesive is inactive, properly align delaminating paint, then activate adhesive with a hot air gun, tacking iron or vacuum heat table at a temperature of 150–160°F (65–70°C). Remove from absorbent surfaces with hexane or acetone (provided they do not damage the artwork). These solvents do not dissolve the film but merely swell it, so as not to contaminate or stain absorbent materials.
