Part of the joy of collecting is being able to place your collection on display for all to view. Special care must be taken during the preparation and installation of objects to ensure their safety and safe handling. Choose exhibit cases and pedestals that are constructed of, and linked with, stable archival quality materials. Other features such as locking mechanisms and compartments for humidity control are also important. Select the correct size and shape acrylic or glass displays to hold artifacts securely and safely. Label holders and signs should be informational yet unobtrusive. Use proper care and planning when moving or handling objects. Wear white gloves with grips to protect against dirt and slippage. Mat and frame artwork using materials of archival quality. Use UV filtering glass and plexiglass to protect against discoloration and deterioration caused by exposure to light. Try to keep visible light exposure to the minimum necessary to view the exhibit.
